What the rules reach, and what our certificates do not say

This section is about drinking-water regulation, not about the manufacturer's own paperwork — the certificates and registrations held are set out on the about page, where they belong. What this page covers is the part that changes the specification: which US federal limits are in force and which are only proposed, who each rule applies to, and the one thing an ultraviolet stage is repeatedly credited with that it does not do — it does not remove PFAS.

In force vs proposed, kept apart Public systems, not private wells UV is not a PFAS treatment

US federal PFAS limits

Status as at September 2026 — in force, and proposed

A regulation read at the wrong moment produces the wrong plan. The table below separates what is legally enforceable from what is still a proposal, because several of these entries changed status during 2026 and a specification written from a summary two years old may already be answering a rule that no longer reads the same way.

US federal PFAS drinking water regulation — status as at September 2026
ProvisionStatus
PFOA 4.0 ppt · PFOS 4.0 ppt In force. Set by the April 2024 National Primary Drinking Water Regulation. EPA is not proposing to change these two numbers.
PFHxS 10 ppt · PFNA 10 ppt · GenX (HFPO-DA) 10 ppt In force, proposed for rescission. On 18 May 2026 EPA proposed withdrawing these three limits on procedural grounds under the Safe Drinking Water Act. Until a final rule issues, the 2024 limits remain legally enforceable.
Hazard Index 1.0 for mixtures including PFBS In force, proposed for rescission. Withdrawn in the same proposal, on the same procedural basis.
Compliance deadline Stands at 26 April 2029. A second proposal announced the same day would let eligible systems request up to two more years, moving it to 26 April 2031, with interim monitoring and mitigation duties for systems reporting results at or above 12 ppt. The 4 ppt standard itself would not move.
Who it applies to Public water systems. The federal PFAS limits do not extend to private wells — no federal limit applies to a household well.
Read the status column, not just the number

Three of the entries above are in force and proposed for rescission at the same time. That is not a contradiction: a proposal does not change the law until a final rule issues, so the limits remain enforceable while the proposal is pending. A treatment decision built on the assumption that the 10 ppt values have already gone is built on a proposal.

Where ultraviolet sits in all of this

Three statements, in order of importance

UV does not remove PFAS

Nothing about a UVC lamp touches a dissolved fluorinated compound. PFAS are addressed by reverse osmosis, activated carbon or ion exchange. A treatment train specified for PFAS that adds an ultraviolet stage expecting removal has added the wrong stage.

The rule is written for public systems

Federal PFAS limits reach public water systems, not private wells. The household decision is therefore not driven by a federal deadline — which is worth knowing before treating a compliance date as a reason to buy.

A PFAS train creates a stage UV does answer

A treatment train built around PFAS ends in storage and lines downstream of it — still water, at ambient temperature, after the last barrier. That is exactly the position a post-tank ultraviolet stage covers, and it is the only role UV has here.

The full working of it

PFAS and point-of-use treatment works through what removes PFAS, where an ultraviolet stage fits in that list, and what the rules do and do not reach. If you are an importer or a distributor working to the US market, start there rather than here.

Additional rules and their position
RulePosition
Lead and Copper Rule Improvements (LCRI) The lead action level is lowered from 15 µg/L to 10 µg/L by the rule finalised in October 2024, with systems required to comply by 1 November 2027. Lowered, not yet in force — until then the existing requirements continue to apply.
Ultraviolet treatment and disinfection credit No credit or approval is claimed for any jurisdiction. Where a market operates an approval or validation programme for ultraviolet equipment, the product has to be qualified under that programme — a certificate for another market is not a substitute, and this site does not present one as if it were.
This page is not legal or regulatory advice

Dates and thresholds are stated as they stood at the research cut-off shown, and regulatory positions change. A project decision should be taken against the current text of the rule and, where it matters commercially, with advice for the market concerned.

The manufacturer's own paperwork

What is held, for which market — and what is not claimed

Regulation of a supply is one subject; proof of a product is another. The two documents the manufacturer holds are summarised here and set out in full, with their wording and their limits, on the about page — kept in one place so that a single version of each statement exists.

Certification and registration held, by target market
DocumentMarketWhat it is
105777-CHN-1 — EPA Establishment registration North America A facility registration held by the manufacturer. It is not a product certification, and there is no pre-market review of the product. See how the two kinds of document differ.
DPCW/01068/06/KA/26 — CE conformity certificate European Union Issued for the models ZXSJ-UVC-1GPM and ZXSJ-UVC-3GPM, by INTERCERT Global (Warsaw).
Nothing is asserted elsewhere Other markets No conformity assessment is claimed for any other jurisdiction. Where a market requires an evidenced lifetime claim, the qualification has to run under that market's own programme.

Working to a market and need the position stated plainly

Say which market and which rule you are working to. Where a document exists it is identified; where it does not, the reply says so rather than leaving a date open.

Scope and document control

4 sources
  1. US federal PFAS limits are stated as they stood at September 2026, from the April 2024 National Primary Drinking Water Regulation and the proposals published in May 2026. Where an entry is proposed rather than final, it is marked as proposed.
  2. The lead action level is quoted from the Lead and Copper Rule Improvements finalised in October 2024, which lowers the level from 15 µg/L to 10 µg/L with compliance required by 1 November 2027. Until that date the existing requirements apply.
  3. This page is not legal, regulatory or compliance advice, and it is not a statement that any product satisfies any rule. A decision should be taken against the current text of the rule concerned.
  4. Certification and registration are as stated by the certificate holder. The EPA entry is a facility registration and not a product certification; the CE entry is issued for the two models named. No other jurisdiction is asserted.
